Sefa Sews

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy browsing my many nerdy projects, both sewing & non-sewing!

About Me

Hi! My name is Sefa Randsdottir, and I am a member of the SCA. I got interested in the SCA in 2020. I was (and still am) dating a third-generation SCA member, Gunnolf, and I knew that I wanted to give the SCA a try with him. Of course, in 2020 there was not much to do in the SCA for a newcomer who wasn't on Facebook. So I read and researched and planned on my own, getting ready for whenever it was I'd be able to give it a try in-person.

That first event was Castle Wars in November of 2021, and I had an amazing time. My second event, Gulf Wars 2022, really confirmed for me that this was something I was excited to embrace. I started working on different projects, especially the major undertaking of learning how to sew. I started sharing my adventures (and mistakes) on Facebook! A laurel in my kingdom, Lorenzo, suggested I start some kind of blog to keep track of my projects, and this blog is the result of my taking his good advice.

I do a lot more than just sew, but the name came to me & stuck in my head. So this will be Sefa Sews (and does other stuff too) as my skills & experience grow. I hope that those of you who have found your way here will find things interesting, amusing, helpful, or inspiring. I know I am so very inspired by the online resources of those who have come before me, and I'd love to pay that forward.

My persona is that of a Viking woman in the late 9th century during the peak of the Viking age. I don't have many more details than that, partially so I can keep exploring lots of new territory and avenues of study! I'll do a post sometime on my name & persona research done during that year of solo study in 2020.

I was honored to recieve the Order of the Meridian Cross from Their Majesties at the Royal University of Meridies in July 2022.

Thank you for coming by, and I wish you very well!
